Medicine Pouch
Medicine Pouch
2014
Brass, Glass, and Leather
14in. x 4 in. x 2in.
Warriors of Native American tribes would carry medicine pouches that would contain items with mystical powers to the owner. These items were often collected from nature as part of a coming of age ritual. Here I have created my own version of the pouch by blending glass and brass to create a container for liquid to be worn around the neck. The contents of the vessel must remain unknown by others following the tradition of medicine pouches. But as many warriors have done, it is used as a token for home.
